Transgender and Public Accomodations

by: Bernadette RIgo - December 2, 2016

Bernadette Rigo in our Las Vegas office gave a training to LVRM on transgender and public accommodations on November 30, 2016. The presentation synopsis is that all persons are entitled to the full and equal enjoyment of any place of public accommodation without discrimination or segregation on the ground of gender identity or expression. In summarizing the presentation Bernadette referenced the Housing and Urban Development definition of gender and regulations issued in September. The core issue is that respect is crucial and we should use pronouns in line with a person’s gender identity. Confidentiality is key even when explaining equal access/non-discriminatory policies to other guests.
