Melissa J. Roose is a partner in the Las Vegas office of Resnick & Louis, P.C. where her practice focuses on catastrophic losses in matters with high liability exposure involving significant bodily injury and wrongful death claims in accidents often involving tractor-trailers and/or motorcycles. For over 20 years Melissa has represented clients throughout Nevada, California and Arizona from the pre-litigation evidence preservation stage through resolution. She works closely with her clients to formulate preferred case handling strategies from early resolution to a vigorous defense through trial. Melissa’s trucking and transportation clients range from single owner-operators to large corporate fleets, and her retail clients have a national presence.
Melissa’s business matters include the defense of various corporate entities in claims involving property and groundwater contamination, diminution in value, and corresponding medical and health ailments as well as allegations of exposure to toxic chemicals in occupational hazard contexts. Her defense of property, business and landowners often includes corporate entities, individuals, employers and their employees, casinos, franchisors, franchisees and independent contractors and often involves negligent or inadequate security claims. Melissa’s strict product liability matters often involve serious injuries, amputations, burns and/or permanent disabilities. Melissa also litigates employment and professional liability matters to include representing real estate brokers and appraisers from the administrative proceedings through litigation. Her construction defect experience includes the defense of developers, general contractors, subcontractors and design professionals in single home cases to complex class actions.
Melissa has successfully obtained dismissals of cases via pre-trial motions in both State and Federal Courts and has obtained excellent results while representing clients at mediation, arbitration and trial. She has represented clients in jury trials throughout the state of Nevada to include obtaining defense verdicts as lead counsel with no second chair.
Melissa is licensed to practice law in the states of Nevada (2001), Arizona (2002), and California (2002) as well as the U.S. District Courts of Nevada, Arizona and California (Northern, Central and Southern Districts).
