Smaili Constantino is an Associate in the Orlando and Miami offices of Resnick & Louis, P.C., where he focuses his practice on complex civil litigation involving construction, insurance coverage, and property damage disputes. He represents general contractors, developers, subcontractors, design professionals, and insurers in high-exposure matters, including large residential communities, high-rise condominium projects, commercial developments, and other multi-structure construction disputes.
His practice spans the full lifecycle of complex litigation, from early risk assessment and pre-suit strategy through discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation. Smaili regularly handles multi-party construction defect litigation, first-party property claims, subrogation matters, insurance coverage disputes, and bad faith defense, frequently involving technically sophisticated issues, substantial claimed damages, and layered contractual and insurance obligations. Clients value his ability to integrate legal analysis with practical construction and risk management considerations.
A distinctive element of Smaili’s practice is his dual professional background as both an attorney and a Florida Certified Building Contractor. This experience provides practical insight into construction methodology, building codes, project sequencing, plan interpretation, liability allocation, and risk transfer strategies, allowing him to approach construction disputes with both legal precision and industry perspective.
Prior to joining Resnick & Louis, Smaili practiced at a national civil litigation firm in Tampa, Florida, where he handled large-scale construction defect and insurance litigation involving significant property losses and complex liability issues. Smaili earned his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, where he served as an editor of the Stetson Journal of Advocacy and the Law. Before relocating to the United States, he obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree and practiced law in Brazil, focusing on complex commercial litigation. He is licensed to practice law in both Florida and Brazil and is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
While in law school, he volunteered with Gulf Coast Legal Services, assisting non-English-speaking clients with immigration matters, reflecting his longstanding commitment to serving diverse and international communities.
